We are a community of ecologists, zoologists and wildlife rangers, sharing our wild harvest with you. This is quite possibly the freshest meat you will ever get without taking it yourself. We manage wild deer across the country in various habitats from rewilding areas, private estates, commercial forestry, woodlands with public access and even urban environments. Our wild deer are then taken to our localised deer larders around the country before being delivered to our processsing facility. It is then aged for 7 days to optimise its flavour profile before being butchered and frozen.
The "Grey Ghost" is a reference to the Kiwi hunter's nickname for the Sika deer in New Zealand. Legendarily one of the hardest species to hunt they simply vanish like "Grey Ghosts" into the mountains. Sika is also one of the best tasting species on the planet making that challenging hunt all the more rewarding.
We believe in sustainable sourcing and full traceability. Data recording is vitally important in wildlife managament as it guarantees we are putting healthy animals into the food chain and managing populations effectively. With some habitats under immense pressure from deer populations it is important that we are able to assess this and manage the deer accordingly.
